Enhanced Security Ensured for Christian Worship Places in Punjab


Lahore, Oct 15, 2023 - In response to directives from Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, comprehensive security measures were implemented to safeguard Christian worship services at churches throughout the province, including Lahore, on Sunday.

Punjab Police official sources confirm that police team were on high alert and carried out their duties diligently to ensure a peaceful environment for Christian citizens. Earlier, IG Punjab, Dr Usman Anwar, had issued orders to bolster security arrangements at churches. He emphasized that supervisory officers, such as SPs, should personally inspect security arrangements at churches and important locations. Additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches.

The Dolphin Squad, PRU, and elite teams were assigned to conduct effective patrols in the vicinity of churches. IG Punjab stressed that police officers and personnel tasked with security duties should maintain a heightened state of alertness and closely monitor any suspicious activities around churches. Search and sweep operations around sensitive areas were to be continued.

Furthermore, Dr. Usman Anwar called upon religious scholars, Christian community leaders, and members of peace committees to actively promote interfaith harmony and prioritize the resolution of issues affecting minority communities. He also announced the establishment of Meesaq Centers, where minority citizens can conveniently access policing services with priority.

These measures underscore the commitment of Punjab Police to ensure the safety and well-being of all citizens, regardless of their religious background, and to provide an environment where everyone can worship peacefully.
