Pakistan’s Foreign Minister
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari Thursday has proposed that a Parliamentary Oversight
Committee be set up to address the issues of the country’s minorities,
especially forced conversion.
He told a Minority Convention organised by
National Assembly that the constitution did not allow forced conversion to
Islam, and neither did Islam.
Bhutto also said steps were being
taken to improve conditions for minorities with the aim of proving that every
citizen has equal status.
He further urged the National
Assembly to ensure proper implementation on minority quota in government
offices.
Bhutto also paid tribute to late
minister Shahbaz Bhatti, saying he had given a sacrifice but did not compromise
on the rights of its people.
